Kamiyacho Area Overview


Kamiyacho is a business area adjacent to Roppongi and Kasumigaseki. Commercial complexes such as Toranomon Hills, ARK HILLS Sengokuyama Mori Tower, Shiroyama Hills, Izumi Garden, and Atago Green Hills are located in the area. As the environment around these buildings was arranged with the concept of a green and hilly cityscape adding to area’s a refined cosmopolitan atmosphere. In this area you can find luxury rental apartments that are popular among foreigners.

The main area of Kamiyacho is centered around Kamiyacho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. It is a business district next to Kasumigaseki, where many Japanese national government institutions have gathered. Many companies–including TV stations and foreign companies–are located here. Since Kamiyacho is geographically located at almost the center of Tokyo–and being very close to Otemachi, Roppongi, Azabu, Shinbashi, and Ginza–it is a very convenient location from which to commute to the other areas of central Tokyo.

The Hotel Okura, the Swedish embassy and the Spanish embassy are located on a hilltop to the northwest of Kamiyacho Station in a quiet and peaceful area. To accommodate the new development of commercial complexes such as Shiroyama Hills, Izumi Garden, the ARK HILLS Sengokuyama Mori Tower, the cityscape was designed and arranged to provide a convenient environment with abundant greenery and hilly walkways. On a separate hilltop to the south of the station is The Dutch embassy and Tokyo Tower.

From the station towards Onarimon lies the area of Atagoyama with its rich greenery. A hotel-like high-rise apartment, the Atago Green Hills Forest Tower can be found here.
